So Youre Considering Bankruptcy ... Now What
So Youre Considering Bankruptcy ... Now What So Youre Considering Bankruptcy Now What? So Youre Considering Bankruptcy Now What?Filing for bankruptcy isnt fun, but it can also mean a fresh start. People who are drowning in debt and unable to make their payments should strongly consider it.Your financial life is bound to be full of ups and downs. One day youâll be celebrating a raise with a lovely dinner at a fancy restaurant only to have your car break down on the way home. The cost of the repairs wipes out the raise and then some, and now youâre worse off than when you started.Sometimes you end up with multiple downturns in a row. And if those downturns donât have any upturns in between them, well, this is how people end up relying on predatory no credit check loans and short-term bad credit loans (like title loans, payday loans, and cash advances) to make ends meetâ"but only succeed in driving themselves even further into debt.As your debt grows, eventually it will get so big that you can no longer afford your payments. Forget paying that personal loan off ah ead of schedule, you cant pay it off on-schedule! Once your money situation gets bad enough, youll find yourself without many options. One of your few remaining options, however, could be filing for bankruptcy. And while bankruptcy sounds scary, the option exists to help you. So when should you consider bankruptcy? And what comes next you if you do decide to declare it?What is bankruptcy? Before we get into whether you should consider declaring bankruptcy, letâs just make sure we understand what it is. Weâll only address personal bankruptcy in this article, of which there are two primary kinds. The two main types of personal bankruptcy are Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. Chapter 7 allows you to discharge almost all of your debts, but youâll have to pass a means test first to show your income is too low to actually pay those debts. Youâll also have to hand over whatever liquid assets you have to pay off as much debt as possible before itâs discharged. If your means are too great to pass the means test, you could still declare Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Chapter 13 bankruptcy will require you to submit a payment plan to a bankruptcy court, and if itâs approved, youâll be able to pay off those debts over the next three to five years. So how do you know if itâs time for you to declare bankruptcy? How to know itâs time to declare bankruptcy.Declaring bankruptcy isnât as easy as the television would have you believe. Every situation is different, so itâs important to examine whether bankruptcy is the best option in your personal situation. Ideally, youâll want to consult a bankruptcy attorney to give you guidance.âIn general, bankruptcy is a legal action in federal court meant to protect the consumer from his or her creditors,â explained Todd Christensen, education manager for Money Fit by DRS, Inc. (@MoneyFitbyDRS). âMost commonly, filers are trying to protect their home from foreclosure, but they may also be attempting to protect their vehicle (whic h is often a bad financial move) and, more importantly, their wages from garnishment.âIf a consumer cannot pay their bills on their own, cannot negotiate better repayment terms with their creditors, and cannot work out a debt management plan with a nonprofit credit counseling agency (like those found at FCAA.org), bankruptcy is usually the nextâ"and lastâ"step.âIf you do think bankruptcy could be right for you, there are a few steps youâll have to go through.âMeet with a credit counseling agency approved by the US Department of Justiceâs Executive Office of the US Trustee to complete a budget briefing and obtain the required certificate of credit counseling,â outlined Christensen. âThe thought back in 2005 when Congress added this and other requirements to the bankruptcy filing process was that meeting with a credit counselor might hopefully steer some consumers away from bankruptcy if it was not necessary, and have them instead pay off 100 percent of their debts thr ough a credit counselor.âIf bankruptcy is still the most logical step, the consumer either meets with a bankruptcy attorney or completes the court paperwork (each district court has its own fees required to pay with the petition, as well as its own fee waiver policies).âAfter the case is filed, the consumer must attend the 341 meeting of the creditors. Before the case is discharged and the consumer is relieved of his or her responsibility to pay the debts, he or she must complete a 2-hour debtor education course approved by the same US Department of Justice office.âAnd then youâll have declared bankruptcy. So now what?Youâve successfully declared bankruptcy. What comes next?Leslie H. Tayne Esq. (@LeslieHTayneEsq), Founder and Head Attorney at Tayne Law Group (@taynelawgroup), offered some actions to take and suggestions for living that post-bankruptcy life:âBankruptcy stays on your credit report for up to 10 years, which could make getting new credit difficult for tha t period of time. Your credit score will definitely take a hit from filing bankruptcy, but how much it drops will depend on your individual situation. If you had good credit before filing, bankruptcy will likely have a more profound impact on your credit than if you had poor credit. It will take time for your credit to recover from bankruptcy. You may consider opening a secured credit card to start rebuilding.âIf you have accounts discharged during bankruptcy, they will now have a zero balance but will show up as discharged on your credit report, which may be frowned upon by lenders and creditors. However, âdischargedâ will likely be looked upon more favorably than an account thatâs marked as unpaid or past due.âAfter youâve filed for bankruptcy, youâll need to get back on track and adjust to your new financial situation. The first step will be to sit down and rewrite your budget. Your budget may have been the root of the problem that led to bankruptcy in the first pla ce, so youâll want to think critically and carefully when reviewing it. Take time to identify where the issues may have been and what you may be able to do to improve in those areas now that you have a chance for a fresh start.âBecause you may have had trouble managing your finances previously, you may want to enlist some help after bankruptcy from a financial attorney or a financial expert to help you avoid falling back into the same habits.âYou still have rights.Aside from the more general advice, thereâs also a specific law you may want to familiarize yourself with.âMuch of my practice consists of suing creditors and debt collectors for violating bankruptcy discharge orders or consumer protection laws, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and state consumer collection practices laws,â explained consumer protection attorney Donald E. Petersen.âConsumers who have dischar ged a debt in bankruptcy and surrendered any collateral securing the debt should not be receiving calls or letters from the creditor (or debt collector) about the discharged accounts.âThe TCPA requires that companies using an Automated Telephone Dialing System (ATDS) or prerecorded or artificial voice when calling a cell phone must have the cell phone users prior express consent. Consumers who file bankruptcy typically provided the caller (or the callers principal or predecessor in interest) express consent by furnishing their cell phone number to the creditor.âIf a creditor (or debt collector) continues to call about a debt that the consumer discharged, the consumer should tell them âstop calling meâ rather than âcall my bankruptcy attorney.â Here is why.âMany, if not most, bankruptcy courts will require the discharged creditors to pay the consumer very little compensation for the aggravation that the creditors constant calls and letters continue to cause. The TCPA, however, provides that once the borrower revokes consent (i.e, tells the caller âstop callingâ) the caller is liable for $500 per call and, if the violation is willful, an additional amount of up to $1,000 or, equivalently, $ 1,500 per call.âGoing into bankruptcy is never going to be fun. The Rise And Fall Of Enron - 1900 Words
The Rise and Fall of Enron One of the most basic tenets of all companies, whether small or large, is to create a principled corporate culture. Those ethical principles must start with the executives of the organization and trickle down to the individual employees. Leaders affect the employeesââ¬â¢ decision-making process, yet they tend to adopt the same rationale as their leaders when reaching a decision. The leadership of a company needs to find a balance between risk and creating opportunity. While generating revenue and growth are paramount, at most, organizations, executives set the tone regarding what actions and behaviors are acceptable to achieve these objectives. Skilling served in leadership roles within various Enron subsidiaries before becoming president and chief operating officer at Enron in 1997. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Enron for nine months in 2001 before resigning from the company for personal reasons. Skilling hired Andrew Fastow in 1990 because he was familiar with energy marketplace deregulation. Fastow worked in numerous capacities at Enron before ultimately being named Chief Financial Officer in 1998 and served in that position until the Securities and Exchange Commission commenced an investigation into irregularities in the companyââ¬â¢s behavior. Under the leadership of Skilling and the prowess of Fastow, in the 1990s, Enron altered its accounting method and starting using mark-to-market accounting. Mark-to-market accounting permitted Enron to add anticipated profits from a new project to their balance sheet without the project generating revenue. If the real profit proved to be lower than expected, Enron would transfer the loss to a special-purpose entity. The special-purpose entities created a way for the losses to go unreported. Under Fastowââ¬â¢s direction, Enron devised a way to write off losses without affecting the core business and stock value. Due to these practices, Enronââ¬â¢s balance sheet overstated earnings and understated their liabilities.

However, these truths doesnââ¬â¢t suite to the message of the story because the orientation of the Author is guided by the principles of logic which falls out rightly to the counterpart. In this story, LOVE is a fallacy in the mind of the writer because of its personality that is influenced by the principles of logic. Defining love in a very superficial sense that simply conforms to the requirement of the flesh. But what is really the meaning of LOVE to us? All wants to love and to be loved. We are loved since we came into this world. Our parents raised us up by their love. Provided for our basic needs, devoted their lives with us and there always in great or troubled situations. If we are not brought in the love it is simple not possible to express love to others. Love is vital in any relationship. But some situations in life that we happen to witness confused us what love really is. There are people love based on material considerations, wherein they believed that the presence of material blessedness defines certainty of their future. They put so much consideration this aspect, that equality in ability or status provides a promising journey of happy relationship. And this idea still a norm in this present day. Others base on physical attributes, wherein they consider inner beauty is of lesser significance. Some uses different perspective, they wanted a person who has an excellent mind ability, considering the fact that being intelligent will give a certainty for a better future. In the long run once they fail to their expectations both will be in a great mess. With this examples mentioned above I agree that Love is a fallacy if we conform to the principle and ideals of the writer. Love makes things wonderful. It is profound feeling that we felt towards our love ones, it is not force or change or dictated by others. Even the most painful circumstances of life could not be able to dwindle or will to love and to be loved. Love starts in us before we can share it to others. We often express it in many ways through our caring, understanding to others. Its should express mutually never should be force by any of life circumstances like physical attributes, status, ability, wealth, influence and the things that are superficial that can only define of satisfy the requirements of the sinful flesh. CORINTHIANS 13:4-8 *** Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails*** How to cite Love Is a Fallacy, Essay examples

How to Teach Reported Speech to Students
How to Teach Reported Speech to Students Teaching students reported or indirect speech can be complicated by the all the changes that are required when moving from direct speech into reported speech. First off, students should understand that reported speech is quite useful in conversational English as relating what someone has said using quote and unquote is awkward at best. A further aspect of reported speech is encouraging students to use other reporting verbs beyond say and tell. Introducing the Concept to Students Start with Tenses Start with simple examples in which changes are only made in tense. For example: Write on the Board: Direct Speech Tom said, I enjoy watching action movies.becomes Indirect Speech Tom said he enjoyed watching action movies. Direct Speech Anna told me, I went to the shopping mall.becomes Indirect Speech Anna told me she had gone to the shopping mall. Move on to Pronouns and Time Expressions Once students have understood the basic concept of stepping one step back into the past when reporting in the past, they can easily begin to make the minor changes in pronoun and time expression usage. For example: Write on the Board: Direct Speech The teacher said, Were working on the present continuous today.becomes Indirect Speech The teacher said we were working on the present continuous that day. Direct Speech Anna told me, My brother Tom has been to Paris twice this year.becomes Indirect Speech Anna told me her brother Tom had been to Paris twice that year. Practice Provide students with a chart of the principal changes in reported speech (i.e. will - would, present perfect - past perfect, etc.). Ask students to practice the reported speech by beginning with a reported speech worksheetà or by asking them to change sentences from direct to reported speech. Once students have become comfortable with direct to indirect speech transformations, practice reporting through the use of interviews as in this reported speech lesson plan.As students become familiar with the reported speech, introduce a wider range of reporting verbs to help students move post say and tell. Advanced Issues Once the basics have been understood, there are a few more advanced issues to discuss. Here is a quick outline of some of the more problematic aspects of the reported speech that students might find confusing. Reporting Tense: Says instead of Said - Sometimes, in the moment of speaking a speaker may use the present tense to report what has been said. In this case, there is no change in the tense. However, changes in pronouns apply. For example:Teacher: Were going to work on the reported speech. Please turn to page 121 in your book.Student 1: I cant understand. What are we supposed to do?Student 2: The teacher says we are going to work on the reported speech on page 121.Tom: I think this is a great idea!Peter: Andy, I didnt understand.Andy: Tom tells us he thinks its a good idea.Other Reporting Verbs: Advise / Instruct / Etc. Infinitive of Purpose - A number of reporting verbs use the infinitive of purpose to express the idea, rather than using a transition of the tense. For example:Teacher: Were going to work on the reported speech. Please turn to page 121 in your book.Student 1: I cant understand. What are we supposed to do?Student 2: The teacher instructed us to work on reported speech and turn to page 121.Teacher: I think you should hurry up and finish the activity.Student 1: I didnt understand.Student 2: The teacher advised us to hurry up and finish the activity.

The Great Barrier Reef - Worlds Largest Reef System
The Great Barrier Reef - Worlds Largest Reef System Australias Great Barrier Reef is considered to be the worlds largest reef system. It is made up of over 2,900 individual reefs, 900 islands and covers an area of 133,000 square miles (344,400 sq km). It is also one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is the worlds biggest structure made out of living species. The Great Barrier Reef is also unique in that it is the only living organism that can be seen from space. Geography of the Great Barrier Reef The Great Barrier Reef is located in the Coral Sea. It is off the northeast coast of Australias state of Queensland. The reef itself stretches over 1,600 miles (2,600 km) and most of it is between 9 and 93 miles (15 and 150 km) from shore. In places the reef is up to 40 miles (65 km) wide. The reef also includes Murray Island. Geographically, the Great Barrier Reef stretches from Torres Strait in the north to the area between Lady Elliot and Fraser Islands in the south. Much of the Great Barrier Reef is protected by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. It covers over 1,800 miles (3,000 km) of the reef and runs along Queenslands coast near the town of Bundaberg. Geology of the Great Barrier Reef The geologic formation of the Great Barrier Reef is long and complex. Coral reefs began forming in the region about between 58 and 48 million years ago when the Coral Sea Basin formed. However, once the Australian continent moved to its present location, sea levels began to change and coral reefs started to grow quickly, but changing climate and sea levels after that caused them to grow and decline in cycles. This is because coral reefs need certain sea temperatures and levels of sunlight to grow. Today, scientists believe that complete coral reef structures where todays Great Barrier Reef is were formed 600,000 years ago. This reef died off however due to climate change and changing sea levels. Todays reef began to form about 20,000 years ago when it started growth on the remains of the older reef. This due to the fact that the Last Glacial Maximum ended around this time and during glaciation sea level was much lower than it is today. Following the end of the last glaciation about 20,000 years ago, sea level continued to rise and as it got higher, the coral reefs grew on the hills being flooded on the coastal plain. 13,000 years ago sea level was almost where it is today and the reefs began to grow around off the coast of Australia islands. As these islands became further submerged with rising sea levels, the coral reefs grew over them to form the reef system present today. The current Great Barrier Reef structure is about 6,000 to 8,000 years old. Biodiversity of the Great Barrier Reef Today the Great Barrier Reef is considered a World Heritage Site due to its unique size, structure and high levels of biodiversity. Many of the species living in the reef are endangered and some are endemic only to that reef system. The Great Barrier Reef has 30 species of whales, dolphins and porpoises. In addition, six species of endangered sea turtles breed in the reef and two green sea turtle species have genetically distinct populations in the north and south of the reef. The turtles are attracted to the area due to the 15 species of sea grass that grow in the reef. Within the Great Barrier Reef itself, there are also a number of microscopic organisms, different mollusks and fish that inhabit spaces inside the coral. 5,000 species of mollusk are on the reef as are nine species of seahorses and 1,500 species of fish, including the clownfish. The reef is composed of 400 species of coral. The areas closer to land and on the islands of the Great Barrier Reef are biodiverse as well. These places are home to 215 bird species (some of which are seabirds and some of which are shorebirds). The islands within the Great Barrier Reef are also home to over 2,000 types of plants. Although the Great Barrier Reef is home to many charismatic species like those previously mentioned, it should also be noted that a variety of very dangerous species inhabit the reef or areas near it as well. For example, saltwater crocodiles live in the mangrove swamps and salt marshes near the reef and a variety of sharks and stingrays live within the reef. In addition, 17 species of sea snake (most of which are venomous) live on the reef and jellyfish, including the deadly box jellyfish, also inhabit nearby waters. Human Uses and Environmental Threats of the Great Barrier Reef Due to its extreme biodiversity, the Great Barrier Reef is a popular tourist destination and around two million people visit it per year. Scuba diving and tours via small boats and aircraft are the most popular activities on the reef. Since it is a fragile habitat, tourism of the Great Barrier Reef is highly managed and sometimes operated as ecotourism. All ships, aircraft and others that want to access the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park need to have a permit. Despite these protective measures, however, the Great Barrier Reefs health is still threatened due to climate change, pollution, fishing, and invasive species. Climate change and rising sea temperatures are considered the greatest threats to the reef because coral is a fragile species that needs water to be about 77ÃÅ¡F to 84ÃÅ¡F (25ÃÅ¡C to 29ÃÅ¡C) to survive. Recently there have been episodes of coral bleaching due to higher temperatures. Ernest Hemingway Hills Like White Elephants Essay
Ernest Hemingway Hills Like White Elephants - Essay Example As soon as the girl is pregnant, the American presses for an abortion saying that it will be a simple operation because he doesnââ¬â¢t want to settle down like the ââ¬Ëwhite hillsââ¬â¢ and still wants to enjoy life like the ââ¬Ëelephantââ¬â¢. The emotional substance behind their togetherness is negated by the Americanââ¬â¢s attitude and Jig ultimately realizes this. While the American has choices, Jig is left with none. She has to either lose the baby or the man. She has to choose between her love and her responsibility. While she chooses to listen to the American because she loves him, she ultimately realizes that the element of love itself is lost, for, he doesnââ¬â¢t love her. Else, he wouldnââ¬â¢t have worn that facade of love only for pleasure and just to run away like a coward as soon as the trouble comes. The way they react to the problem in hand is also different. Jig is asking different questions and is genuinely interested in solving the problem. On the other hand, the Americanââ¬â¢s goal is to get rid of the problem instead of facing or solving it.

How strategic business management can attain its objectives without Research Proposal
How strategic business management can attain its objectives without affecting employees and customers - Research Proposal Example The researcher states that in strategic business management, there are various guiding theories, principles and practices. These are intended to steer the fundamental goals and objectives of the company in the context of increasing sales and covering wider areas of the market. Additionally, the writer continues to state that, with well-stipulated management principles and theories, there are bound to be challenges. Alternatively, Drucker compliment what Cousins talks of the clear stipulation of corporate objectives. On that aspect, the two authors want managers and workers to understand the various concepts and principles of management and how to, effectively, utilize resources of the company. Furthermore, by understanding management, managers and employees are able to work in smooth coordination, which is beneficial for the business and company in terms of increased clients. Similarly, the authors call for constant evaluation of management goals through retrainings and adoption of m odern technology. On the other hand, Davenport mentions and explains the various approaches that are critical for both managers and workers in the strategic innovation of the economy on the basis of dynamic innovations. For example, the author explains the need to employ tools such as suitable technology, qualified workers and offering motivational incentives to workers. In addition, he explains about visionary leadership on the side of managers and response to complaints from the customers among others as the most paramount tools of effecting strategic change in business. (Davenport 2007, p.67). However, Steve, J (2009) have come up with five imperative disciplines when it comes to exemplary performance for any company. These disciplines include respect for clients, timely provisions of products and services, clear study of the market demands, motivation of the workforce through better wages and encouragement and effective leadership (Steve 2009, p.56). Furthermore, the writers obs erve that companies should accept modern challenges that afflict businesses hence affecting strategic management as ways of improving on their strong areas. On that perspective, Brutus (2006) discusses in depth the challenges that afflict organizational management in terms of the dynamics employed to increase sales and improve on profits. Similarly, the author delves into the setbacks that affect companies when they face challenges such as poor leadership from top management, unmotivated employees and slow response from customers, which in turn affects the market demand, and hence company sales (Brutus 2006, p.110). Additionally, this interferes with strategic management set by company executives and the obligation of meeting them on time. 2. The Conceptual Framework Therefore, in terms of a conceptual framework, several factors involved will be drawn from the literature studied previously. However, the research proposal must mention that effective strategic business management is p aramount for the success of any company that aspires to succeed (Carl, 2003, p.87). Similarly, utilization of resources, quick response to client complaints and adoption of initiatives targeted at advancement of the company has several benefits for long and short terms. Alternatively, business managers and other corporate executives should aim at incorporating the various stakeholders such as clients and competitors in the picture of drafting workable strategic business management. On that aspect, this research proposal cannot forget to mention the predicaments associated with strategic business management. For instance, undefined goals and objectives set by company executives and lack of through of the market pattern among other limitations. On that prospect, factors such as timely adoption of technology,

should scarlet letter be published :: essays research papers
Dear Perma-Bound, à à à à à It has come to my attention that you are currently debating on whether or not you should publish The Scarlet Letter and introduce it into the literary world. I feel that it would be in your best interest for you to go and publish this novel for all to read. à à à à à This novel is a superb piece of literature and people all over the world could reap benefit from its contents. Throughout the novel we feel, not only the suffering of being publicly humiliated for oneââ¬â¢s sins, but also the suffering of the guilty one who has not yet let his sins known to the world. We feel the shame Hester feels as the other villagers scorn and torment her for her sin. We can sense her strength as she goes through the first few years without ever once lashing out at anyone for the way they treated her. Hester just accepts it has the part of her punishment. Reverend Dimmesdaleââ¬â¢s guilt is so strong and runs so deep that we, as the readers, cry out with sympathy for him and his inner turmoil. Not only does this novel bring us into the souls of its characters in order to better understand them, but it also shows us just how easily friends can turn their backs on you. These villagers that were tormenting Hester had, at one point, been her friends. As soon as these ââ¬Å"friendsâ⬠found out about what Hester had done they became her enemies. All of the virtues about Hester that they had known were forgotten and in its place was put the knowledge of her sin.

Truman Capotes In Cold Blood - 1137 Words
Literature, the dictionary defines it being the art of written works that is simultaneously designed to entertain, educate and instruct its audience; writers, using their skill of telling stories, use literature in an attempt to transfer their ideas from paper to the reader; for some, this task means bringing their story to a different place and time that is entirely separate from what the could be perceive as ordinary, on order to serve the writerââ¬â¢s intent. With this, the impossible, becomes the probable, and the worst fear imagined becomes the breathed reality; with no separation between the truth, and fiction. Analysis Of Willa Cather s Paul s Case - 1009 Words
In Willa Catherââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Paulââ¬â¢s Case: A Study in Temperamentâ⬠, a short story set in Pittsburgh and New York, Cather introduces us to the young Paul. Self-centered, delusional, and some may even argue, narcissistic, Paul is fascinated and encapsulated by the fine arts around him. Whether it be in the theater where he ushers, the art gallery at Carnegie Hall, or the hotel he runs away to in New York, Paul is always finding a way to escape what he considers a hopeless and mundane reality back home, through the arts. Whatââ¬â¢s interesting to note however is the way that Paul relates to the arts, which seems almost dysfunctional. As mentioned previously, Paul uses the arts as a way to escape from his reality, but it never satisfies him in the long term. The arts become like a drug for him, giving him short lived highs and allowing Paul to lose himself in the moment, even giving him periods of depression and withdrawal in between and ultimately leading him to suicid e. It is interesting to ponder why Paulââ¬â¢s relationship with the arts is this way, and through a close read and analysis of the text, one can infer that Paul never plays an active role (except for himself) in the arts. He never analyzes or interprets, he never finds himself intrigued or provoked. He just allows himself to get lost in the splendor of it all, sequentially enabling a depressed and destructive life as opposed to a potentially satisfying and long-lasting one. plot overview- pauls life at home vs where he escapesShow MoreRelatedAnalysis Of Willa Cather s Paul s Case 1433 Words à |à 6 PagesPaul s Case was and still is one of Willa Cather s best stories which reflects the point of view of an underprivileged young man in the old Pittsburg of the 1900s. She was an extremely progressive prototype in her day, but the design never quite caught on.â⬠ââ¬Å"Canââ¬â¢t imagine why,â⬠Rachel joked, picturing the shipââ¬â¢s bizarre profile. ââ¬Å"Now NBC is pressuring me to use a newer ship. Somethingâ⬠¦ I donââ¬â¢t know, flashier, sexier. We ainââ¬â¢t going nowhere. Not for a while.â⬠Gabrielle glanced out the window and saw the spinning lights of emergency vehicles piercing the night. Several policemen stood in the road ahead, halting traffic around the Mall. ââ¬Å"Must be a hell of an accident,â⬠the driver said, motioning toward some flames near the FDR Memorial. Gabrielle frowned at the flickering glow. Now, of all times. She needed to get to Senator Sexton with this new information about PODS and the Canadian geologist. She wondered if NASAââ¬â¢s lies about how they found the meteorite would be a big enough scandal to breathe life back into Sextonââ¬â¢s campaign. Maybe not for most politicians, she thought, but this was Sedgewick Sexton, a man who had built his campaign on amplifying the failures of others. Gabrielle was not always proud of the senatorââ¬â¢s ability to put negative ethical spin on opponentsââ¬â¢ political misfortunes, but it was effective. Sextonââ¬â¢s mastery of innuendo and indignity could probably turn this one compartmentalized NASA fib into a sweeping question of character that infected the entire space agency-and by association, the President. Outside the window, the flames at the FDR Memorial seemed to climb higher. Some nearby trees had caught fire, and the fire trucks were now hosing them down. The taxi driver turned on the car radio and began channel-surfing. Sighing, Gabrielle closed her eyes and felt the exhaustion roll over her in waves. When sheââ¬â¢d first come to Washington, sheââ¬â¢d dreamed of working in politics forever, maybe someday in the White House. At the moment, however, she felt like sheââ¬â¢d had enough politics for a lifetime-the duel with Marjorie Tench, the lewd photographs of herself and the senator, all of NASAââ¬â¢s liesâ⬠¦ A newscaster on the radio was saying something about a car bomb and possible terrorism. Iââ¬â¢ve got to get out of this town, Gabrielle thought for the first time since coming to the nationââ¬â¢s capital. 99 The controller seldom felt weary, but today had taken its toll. Nothing had gone as anticipated-the tragic discovery of the insertion shaft in the ice, the difficulties of keeping the information a secret, and now the growing list of victims. Nobody was supposed to dieâ⬠¦ except the Canadian. It seemed ironic that the most technically difficult part of the plan had turned out to be the least problematic. The insertion, completed months ago, had come off without a hitch. Once the anomaly was in place, all that remained was to wait for the Polar Orbiting Density Scanner (PODS) satellite to launch. PODS was slated to scan enormous sections of the Arctic Circle, and sooner or later the anomaly software onboard would detect the meteorite and give NASA a major find. But the damned software didnââ¬â¢t work. When the controller learned that the anomaly software had failed and had no chance of being fixed until after the election, the entire plan was in jeopardy. Without PODS, the meteorite would go undetected. The controller had to come up with some way to surreptitiously alert someone in NASA to the meteoriteââ¬â¢s existence. The solution involved orchestrating an emergency radio transmission from a Canadian geologist in the general vicinity of the insertion. The geologist, for obvious reasons, had to be killed immediately and his death made to look accidental. Throwing an innocent geologist from a helicopter had been the beginning. Now things were unraveling fast. Wailee Ming. Norah Mangor. Both dead. The bold kill that had just taken place at the FDR Memorial. Soon to be added to the list were Rachel Sexton, Michael Tolland, and Dr. Marlinson. There is no other way, the controller thought, fighting the growing remorse. Far too much is at stake. 100 The Coast Guard Dolphin was still two miles from the Goyaââ¬â¢s coordinates and flying at three thousand feet when Tolland yelled up to the pilot. ââ¬Å"Do you have NightSight onboard this thing?â⬠The pilot nodded. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m a rescue unit.â⬠Tolland had expected as much. NightSight was Raytheonââ¬â¢s marine thermal imaging system, capable of locating wreck survivors in the dark. The heat given off by a swimmerââ¬â¢s head would appear as a red speck on an ocean of black. ââ¬Å"Switch it on,â⬠Tolland said. The pilot looked confused. ââ¬Å"Why? You missing someone?â⬠ââ¬Å"No. I want everyone to see something.â⬠ââ¬Å"We wonââ¬â¢t see a thing on thermal from this high up unless thereââ¬â¢s a burning oil slick.â⬠ââ¬Å"Just switch it on,â⬠Tolland said. The pilot gave Tolland an odd look and then adjusted some dials, commanding the thermal lens beneath the chopper to survey a three-mile swatch of ocean in front of them. An LCD screen on his dashboard lit up. The image came into focus. ââ¬Å"Holy shit!â⬠The helicopter lurched momentarily as the pilot recoiled in surprise and then recovered, staring at the screen. Rachel and Corky leaned forward, looking at the image with equal surprise. The black background of the ocean was illuminated by an enormous swirling spiral of pulsating red. Rachel turned to Tolland with trepidation. ââ¬Å"It looks like a cyclone.â⬠ââ¬Å"It is,â⬠Tolland said. ââ¬Å"A cyclone of warm currents. About a half mile across.â⬠The Coast Guard pilot chuckled in amazement. ââ¬Å"Thatââ¬â¢s a big one. We see these now and then, but I hadnââ¬â¢t heard about this one yet.â⬠ââ¬Å"Just surfaced last week,â⬠Tolland said. ââ¬Å"Probably wonââ¬â¢t last more than another few days.â⬠ââ¬Å"What causes it?â⬠Rachel asked, understandably perplexed by the huge vortex of swirling water in the middle of the ocean. ââ¬Å"Magma dome,â⬠the pilot said. Rachel turned to Tolland, looking wary. ââ¬Å"A volcano?â⬠ââ¬Å"No,â⬠Tolland said. ââ¬Å"The East Coast typically doesnââ¬â¢t have active volcanoes, but occasionally we get rogue pockets of magma that well up under the seafloor and cause hot spots. The hot spot causes a reverse temperature gradient-hot water on the bottom and cooler water on top. It results in these giant spiral currents. Theyââ¬â¢re called megaplumes. They spin for a couple of weeks and then dissipate.â⬠The pilot looked at the pulsating spiral on his LCD screen. ââ¬Å"Looks like this oneââ¬â¢s still going strong.â⬠He paused, checking the coordinates of Tollandââ¬â¢s ship, and then looked over his shoulder in surprise. ââ¬Å"Mr. Tolland, it looks like youââ¬â¢re parked fairly near the middle of it.â⬠Tolland nodded. ââ¬Å"Currents are a little slower near the eye. Eighteen knots. Like anchoring in a fast-moving river. Our chainââ¬â¢s been getting a real workout this week.â⬠How to cite Deception Point Page 83, Essay examples

GASB Statement 34 and Reporting of Expenditures â⬠Free Samples
Questions: 1.Although Statement No. 34 requires that infrastructure assets be accounted for similarly to other capital assets, it allows for a major exception regarding depreciation. What is that exception? 2.A governments interest expenditure as reported in its debt service fund differs significantly from its interest expense, as reported in its government-wide statements. What is the most likely explanation for the difference? Answers: Introduction This report presents solutions to two questions which discuss major exceptions in reporting of government accounts. First solution discusses the exception regarding reporting of depreciation in infrastructure assets. Second solution presents a possible explanation to difference in interest reporting between two categories of government funds. 1.Solution GASB 34 sets out guidelines for reporting of accounts of all local and state governments in United States of America (GASB, 2018). In majority of cases, long lived assets are required to be depreciated over their lives. This solution explains a major exception in reporting of depreciation of infrastructure assets under GASB statement 34 guidelines. Capital assets are assets that can be used in operations of the business for more than one reporting period and are not intended for sale during normal operations of a company. Long lived assets with useful lives significantly more than majority of capital assets and immovable in nature are called as infrastructure assets. Normally all long lived assets are required to be depreciated over their useful lives. Modified approach of depreciation is applied to certain eligible infrastructure assets. These eligible assets are part of a network or subsystem of network. Under modified approach these infrastructure assets are not depreciated if two conditions are met (Ruppel, 2004). First, these assets are managed by the government with help of an asset management system that has following characteristics. Inventory levels of these assets are maintained up to date by the system. Conditional assessment of these assets is performed by the system and uses a measurement scale by which results are summarised. The system also calculates annual maintenance and preservation expenses of the assets. Secondly, the documentation process regarding maintenance of these assets at pre-defined minimum level is carried out. Professional discretion is required to decide about quantity of documentary evidence which required to be maintained by the system. GASB Statement No 34 species things that are required to be documented, such as given below Conditional assessment is conducted consistently at least once in three years using statistical samples. This assessment is considered to be appropriate and complete if carried out on a regular basis. Observations from these assessments ensure that these assets are being maintained at pre-defined minimum levels. Therefore, modified approach is an exception for recording of depreciation of assets, under it these assets are capitalized if above two conditions are met. 2.Solution: GASB 34 sets out condition for financial reporting of governmental accounts. Interest associated with various long term liabilities is reported differently under different circumstances. This solution provides for the possible explanation for difference in interest reporting between debt service fund and government wide funds Government wide statements are prepared using accrual basis of accounting and report financial performance of the government. They report all expenditures, revenues, losses, gains, assets and liabilities of the government. On the other hand governmental fund financial statements are prepared using modified accrual basis of accounting (Crawford Loyd, 2008). Current financial resources are taken into consideration for preparation of these statements. A cash reserve utilized for fulfilling interest and principal payments requirements on a particular category of debt is referred to as debt service fund. The purpose of such reserve is risk reduction for investors. Debt service fund also helps in reducing effective interest rate. Debt service fund is a part of governmental fund financial statements. Expenditures of debt service funds are reported under other expenditure classification. The main difference between the interest expense reported in the debt service fund and that reported in the government-wide statements is due to different accounting approaches being followed. While reporting the interest in the debt service fund, only cash payment is taken into consideration but the interest amount reported in the government-wide statements also takes into account the accrued amounts. The interest amount reported in the government-wide statements is inclusive of amortized amounts (Bogui, 2008). Thus, there is significant difference between the reporting of interest expenditure between government-wide funds and debt service fund. This solution provides the possible explanation for this difference. Conclusion GASB statement 34 sets the guidelines for reporting of accounts of government. However, there are some exceptions in various reporting procedures. The above two solutions discuss and throw light on the possible explanation of two such exceptions. In first solution, it is concluded that long lived infra assets are not depreciated under certain conditions. Second solution provides the explanation that due to different accounting approaches being followed, there is difference in interest reporting between debt service fund and government-wide funds. The Evolution Of The Microprocessor Persuasive Essay Example For Students
The Evolution Of The Microprocessor Persuasive Essay Word Count: 2326Only once in a lifetime will a new invention come about to touch every aspect of our lives. Such a device that changes the way we work, live, and play is a special one, indeed. The Microprocessor has been around since 1971 years, but in the last few years it has changed the American calculators to video games and computers (Givone 1). Many microprocessors have been manufactured for all sorts of products; some have succeeded and some have not. This paper will discuss the evolution and history of the most prominent 16 and 32 bit microprocessors in the microcomputer and how they are similar to and different from each other. We will write a custom essay on The Evolution Of The Microprocessor Persuasive specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Because microprocessors are a subject that most people cannot relate to and do not know much about, this paragraph will introduce some of the terms that will be in-volved in the subsequent paragraphs. Throughout the paper the 16-bit and 32-bit mi-croprocessors are compared and contrasted. The number 16 in the 16-bit microproces-sor refers how many registers there are or how much storage is available for the mi-croprocessor (Aumiaux, 3). The microprocessor has a memory address such as A16, and at this address the specific commands to the microprocessor are stored in the memory of the computer (Aumiaux, 3). So with the 16-bit microprocessor there are 576 places to store data. With the 32-bit microprocessor there are twice as many places to store data making the microprocessor faster. Another common term which is mentioned frequently in the paper is the oscil-lator or the time at which the processors clock ticks. The oscillator is the pace maker for the microprocessor which tells what f requency the microprocessor can proc-ess information, this value is measured in Mega-hertz or MHz. A nanosecond is a measurement of time in a processor, or a billionth of a second. This is used to measure the time it takes for the computer to execute an instructions, other wise knows as a cy-cle. There are many different types of companies of which all have their own family of processors. Since the individual processors in the families were developed over a fairly long period of time, it is hard to distinguish which processors were introduced in order. This paper will mention the families of processors in no particular order. The first microprocessor that will be discussed is the family of microprocessors called the 9900 series manufactured by Texas Instruments during the mid-70s and was developed from the architecture of the 900 minicomputer series (Titus, 178). There were five dif-ferent actual microprocessors that were designed in this family, they were the TMS9900, TMS9980A, TMS9981, TMS9985, and the TMS9940. The TMS9900 was the first of these microprocessors so the next four of the microprocessors where simply variations of the TMS9900 (Titus, 178). The 9900 series microprocessors runs with 64K memory and besides the fact that the 9900 is a 16-bit microprocessor, only 15 of the address memory circuits are in use (Titus, 179). The 16th address is used for the computer to distinguish between word and data functions (Titus, 179. The 9900 series microprocessors runs from 300 nanoseconds to 500 ns from 2MHz to 3.3MHz and even some variations of the original microprocessor where made to go up to 4MHz (Avtar, 115). The next microprocessor that will be discussed is the LSI-11 which was pro-duced from the structural plans of the PDP-11 minicomputer family. There are three microprocessors in the LSI-11 family they are the LSI-11, LSI-11/2, and the much im-proved over the others is the LSI-11/32 (Titus, 131). The big difference between the LSI-11 family of microprocessors and other similar microprocessors of its kind is they have the instruction codes of a microcomputer but since the LSI-11 microprocessor originated from the PDP-11 family it is a multi-microprocessor (Avtar, 207). The fact that the LSI-11 microprocessor is a multi-microprocessor means that many other mi-croprocessors are used in conjunction with the LSI-11 to function properly (Avtar, 207). The LSI-11 microprocessor has a direct processing speed of 16-bit word and 7-bit data, however the improved LSI-11/22 can directly process 64-bit data (Titus, 131). The average time that the LSI-11 and LSI-11/2 process at are 380 nanoseconds, wh ile the LSI-11/23 is clocked at 300 nanoseconds (Titus, 132). There are some great strengths that lie in the LSI-11 family, some of which are the efficient way at which the microprocessor processes and the ability to run minicomputer software which leads to great hardware support (Avtar, 179). Although there are many strengths to the LSI-11 family there are a couple of weaknesses, they have limited memory and the slow-ness of speed at which the LSI-11 processes at (Avtar, 179). .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d , .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d .postImageUrl , .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d , .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d:hover , .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d:visited , .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d:active { border:0!important; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d:active , .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u7ca9e2474c2e4e2647675009efd7686d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Gsm: Network Architecture EssayThe next major microprocessors in the microcomputing industry were the Z8001 and Z8002, however when the microprocessor entered into the market the term Z8000 was used to mean either or both of the microprocessors (Titus, 73). So when describing the features of both the Z8001 and the Z8002, they will be referred to as the Z8000. The microprocessor was designed by the Zilog Corporation and put out on the market in 1979 (Titus, 73). The Z8000 are a lot like the many other previous micro-processors except for the obvious fact that it is faster and better, but are similar be-cause they depend on their registers to function properly (Titus, 73). T he Z8000 was improved by using 21 16-bit registers, 14 of them are used for general purposes opera-tions (Titus, 73). The difference with the Z8001 and the Z8002 is the Z8002 can only address 65K bytes of memory, which is fascinating compared to the microprocessors earlier in time but is greatly inferior to the Z8001 which can address 8M bytes (8000K) of memory (Titus, 73). The addressing memory between the two otherwise very simi-lar microprocessors is drastically different were as other functions of the microproces-sors seem to be quite the same. An example of this is the cycle time. The cycle time is 250 nanoseconds and the average number of cycles that occur per instruction are be-tween 10 and 14 for both microprocessors (Avtar, 25). The next microprocessor that will be discussed is the 8086. This microproces-sor is the best in my opinion, out of all the 16-bit microprocessors. Not only because the speeds of processing are tremendous, but because it simply paved the way to the 3 2-bit microprocessors using various techniques that will be discussed later. The 8086 was the second Intel microprocessor (being preceded by the 8080) (Avtar, 19). The 8086 was introduced in early 1978 by Intel (Avtar, 19). Like so many of the other processors the 8086 is register oriented with fourteen 16-bit registers, eight of which are used for general processing purposes (Avtar, 19). The 8086 can directly address 1MB (1,048,576 bytes) which is used only in accessing Read Only Memory. The ba-sic clock frequency for the 8086 is between 4MHz and 8MHz depending on the type of 8086 microprocessor that is used (Avtar, 20). Up until this point in the paper there have been common reoccurring phrase such as a microprocessor containing 14 16-bit registers. At this time in the evolution of microprocessors come the 32-bit register, which obviously has double the capacity to hold information for the microprocessor. Because of this simple increase of the register capacity we have a whole different type of microprocessor. Although the 16-bit and 32-bit microprocessors are quite different (meaning they have more compo-nents and such), the 32-bit microprocessors will be described in the same terms as the 16-bit microprocessors were. The remainder of the paper will discuss the 32-bit microprocessor series. The external data bus is a term that will be referred to in the remainder of the paper is. The data bus is basically what brings data from the memory to the processor and from the processor to the memory (Givone, 123). The data bus is similar to the registers located on the microprocessor but are a little bit sl ower to access (Givone, 123). The first 32-bit microprocessor in the microprocessor industry that will be dis-cussed is the series 32000 family and was originally built for main-frame computers. In the 32000 family all of the different microprocessors have the same 32-bit internal structure; but may have external bus values such as 8, 16, or 32 bits (Mitchell, 225). In the 32000 family the microprocessors use only 24 of the potential 32 bit addressing space, giving the microprocessor a 16 Mbyte address space (Mitchell, 225). The 32-bit registers are set up so there are six 32-bit dedicated registers and then in combina-tion there are two 16-bit dedicated registers (Mitchell, 231). Each dedicated register has its own type of specific information that it holds for processing (Mitchell, 232). The microprocessors oscillator (which now comes from an external source) runs at 2.5 MHz, but due to a divide-by-four prescaler the clock frequency runs at 10MHz. There have been many new ideas pu t into practice to improve the 32000 series micro-processor generally and thus making it run faster and more efficient. .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 , .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 .postImageUrl , .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 , .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99:hover , .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99:visited , .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99:active { border:0!important; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99:active , .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99 .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u7c10f6d17124aa55c47c091621ddac99:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The For A Family History Project EssayThe next family of microprocessor which was fabricated for the microcomputer is the MC68020 32-bit microprocessor which is based on the MC68000 family. The other microprocessors that are included in this family are the MC68000, MC68008, MC68010 and the MC68012 (Avtar, 302). Before going into the types of components that this microprocessor contains, it should first be know that the making of the MC68020 has been the product of 60 man-years of designing including the manufac-turing of the High-density Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor giving the mi-croprocessor high speed and low resistance and heat loss (Avtar, 302). Because of a ll the work that was put into the MC68020 and its other related microprocessors, it is an extremely complex microprocessor. The MC68020 operates in two modes, these are the user mode(for application programs) or the supervisor mode (the operating system and other special functions) (Mitchell, 155). The user and supervisor modes all have there own specific registers to operate their functions. The user programming has 17 32-bit address registers, and an 8-bit register (Mitchell, 155). Then the supervisor pro-gramming has three 32-bit, an 8-bit and two 3-bit registers for small miscellaneous functions (Mitchell, 155). All of these registers within the two modes are split up into different groups which would hold different information as usual, but this set up of registers gives the microprocessors a 20 32-bit information storing capacity. The next family of microprocessor is Intels 80386 and 80486 families. The 80386 and 80486 were mostly over all better then the other microprocessors being made by the different companies in the industry at this time, simply because Intel is now the leading microprocessor producer in todays market. The 80386 was a product that evolved from Intels very first microprocessor, the 8-bit 8080 (Mitchell, 85). Then next came the earlier mentioned 16-bit 8086. The reason why Intel did so well in the market for microprocessors was because every microprocessor that they made was compatible with the previous and future (Mitchell, 85). This means that if a piece of software worked on the 8080 then it worked on the future microprocessors and vice-a-versa. Not only did Intel look forward but they looked back. The main difference between the 80386 and the other 32-bit microprocessors is the added feature of a bar-rel shifter (Mitchell, 88). The barrel shifter allowed information to switch places mul-tiple times in the registers within a single cycle (Mitchell, 88). The microprocessor contains 8 general purpose 32-bit registers, but with the ba rrel shifter that is increased to the equivalent of a 64-bit microprocessor. For the most common 20MHz 80386 microprocessor the run time for each cycle is 59 nanoseconds, but for a 33MHz mi-croprocessor the cycle time is reduced to 49 nanoseconds. The next 32-bit microprocessor in market are ATTs WE32100 and 32200 (Mitchell, 5). These microprocessors also needed six peripheral chips in order to run, these are termed: Memory Management Units, floating point arithmetic, Maths Accel-eration Units, Direct Memory Access Control, and Dynamic Rand Access Memory Control (Mitchell, 5). These microprocessors apart from the microprocessors all work an important part of processing the data that comes through the microprocessor. The difference from this microprocessor and the others is because the WE32200 address information over the 32-bit range with the help of a disk to work as a slow form of memory (Mitchell, 9). The WE32200 microprocessor runs at a frequency of 24MHz (Mitchell, 9). The 16-bit and 32-bit microprocessors are a mere page in the great book of processor history. There will be many new and extremely different processors in the near future. A tremendous amount of time and money have been put into the making and improving of the microprocessor. The improving and investment of billions of dollars are continually going toward the cause of elaborating the microprocessors. The evolution of the microprocessor will continue to evolve for the better until the time when a much faster and more efficient electronic device is invented. This is turn will create a whole new and powerful generation of computers. Hopefully this paper has given the reader some insight into the world of microprocessor and how much work has been put into the manufacturing of the microprocessor over the years.
